Stonehenge to Jundah – Far West Queensland 10-08-11

P1240561

A brief sign marks this site off the road to Jundah. A truly ancient well – thousands of years old and one of many cut through hard rock in this dry region of Central Queensland. Unfortunately I could not find any information regarding the people who lived here so long ago.

Alan took these lovely pics in Jundah and we have yet to identify this parrot. It is not in our otherwise informative bird book! Correction: this is the female Red-winged parrot !

P1240602Typical Jundah home – Jundah population 100 Has an art gallery a museum and a tiny very old fashioned corner shop where everything is ‘out the back’! Jundah means ‘woman’ in the First people’s local language.
