Even more Newcastleton!
This is, so far a unique climate event and the locals say that they cannot recall such a long period of freezing weather -9C whilst we were there and -21C in areas further north! Unfortunately 20 people died in Scotland due to the extreme cold - during our visit of one week.
On the way to Newcastleton by train and bus
Newcastleton was snowbound for over three weeks leaping salmon in the river Liddle froze on its icy surface only to vanish the next day! Heron perhaps?These little railway stations bring back memories of the hike along Hadrian's wall.
