Burra Gorge – World End Road – South Australia 15-03-2014

Giant River Red Gums (Eucalyptus camalduensis) – some over 3m dia. and 40m high!  The First Australians believe that these magnificent gums live forever and they should know having been here for 40-60,000 years.

Their blooms are tiny - a pale translucent green rather than white.

I was lucky that this sole flower was a late bloom – the rest in this species were in seed.
