Space memories

4th October 1957 - The day the Sputnik 1  was launched, I was in East Anglia, on my way to work on the Burwell and District bus and it’s passengers were talking about nothing else, imitating its radio pulses by going ‘beep beep’ to one another!


20th July 1969 - The night for us in Australia; as we listened to Astronaut Neil Armstrong’s voice during his first steps on the Moon’s surface. We were camping under a star studded sky, south of Darwin.

15th December 2013 - The early morning, hearing that the Chinese had sent a robot onto the moon. We were camped at Williamstown Caravan park  South Australia
